It’s super easy! Whether you’re looking for a kayak or a yacht, Celebrity Chattered Boats has you covered.

Find a watercraft:

Start browsing our listings by using the search bar on our homepage. Enter where you want to go, the date, and number of passengers. Once you submit your search, our listings will be displayed for you to browse. If you wish to filter the search results further, you may use our filters.

Hint: advanced filters will help a lot too!

Send your inquiry:

When you find a watercraft you like, you may send an inquiry directly to the owner by clicking “Send Inquiry”. You will be asked a few simple questions that will help the owner price your trip. Once you submit the inquiry, it will be sent directly to the boat owner or manager for them to respond. 

The owner will either send you an offer with customized pricing for your request which you can accept to confirm the booking, or they may decline your inquiry if they cannot accommodate your trip.

Make your payment:

You will be asked for full payment via credit card when you accept an owner’s offer. Please be sure to review the owner’s cancellation and refund policies before you accept a booking if there’s a chance you may have to cancel. Please note Celebrity Chattered Boats service fees are non-refundable.

Enjoy your trip: 

Once you’ve paid, you’ll be good to go. At that point, you’ll receive a confirmation email of your booking and you may contact the owner directly via phone or email if preferred (contact info cannot be shared until an offer is accepted).

Once your trip is completed, you may leave a review about your experience!

Celebrity Chattered Boats charges a small fee for each booking that is proportional to the cost of the booking. This service fee enables us to provide you with the following protections when you make a booking:

  • Instant and secure payment processing
  • Fraud prevention
  • Identity verification and protection
  • 24/7 customer support from real humans

Our current service fee is 7.5% on USD currency transactions and 10.5% on all other currency transactions.

It is non-refundable in the case of cancellations, barring extenuating circumstances.

 

Incidentals are when the renter or guests onboard do something that incurs an additional expense. This is very uncommon, but could include things such as minor damage or cleaning fees.

In order to protect boat owners against incidentals, we have a protection in place called a security allowance. When you receive an offer on Celebrity Chattered Boats you may see an included amount at the bottom of the pricing section for this security allowance (i.e. $xxx.xx damage & incidentals). It’s always important to review this amount before you confirm your booking.

How it works:

The security allowance is never charged as part of the booking payment, and does not act as an upfront ‘fee’ or ‘deposit’. It’s only activated if the boat owner makes a valid claim within 48hrs of the trip completion date.

If the boat owner does submit a claim for any incidentals, we are authorized to charge your credit card up to the amount of their listed security allowance. We will send you an email notification to let you know that a claim has been opened.

Any disputes regarding the claim should first be handled between you and the owner. If the dispute is not resolved then Celebrity Chattered Boats will assess evidence submitted by both parties, and will issue a payout to the owner or refund your credit card depending on the conclusion.

Please note that Celebrity Chattered Boats bookings do not automatically come with insurance for you and your other passengers. If you are a renter, you should check with the boat owner to ensure they have the proper insurance coverage for the booking. They may sometimes offer it for a small fee.

Celebrity Chattered Boats does not assume responsibility for renters and their guests when on the water. Per our terms of service, boat operators are fully responsible for keeping renters safe, and for following all local rules and regulations.

Each listing on Celebrity Chattered Boats has a unique cancellation policy listed. Once you accept an offer from an owner, you are also agreeing to their cancellation policy. If something arises and you need to cancel before your trip is due to begin, you will be refunded according to that owner’s cancellation policy.

Unless otherwise changed by the owner, Celebrity Chattered Boats’s default cancellation policy allows for a full refund if you cancel up to five (5) days prior to departure.

Before booking your reservation we also suggest that you ask the owner what their COVID-19 cancellation policy is, and understand how restrictions could affect your travel plans.

Please note that Celebrity Chattered Boats’s service fees are always non-refundable.

Celebrity Chattered Boats boat owners and tour operators may not:

  1. Decline a user’s inquiry based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or marital status.
  2. Cancel a booking based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or marital status.
  3. Require different terms or conditions for bookings based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or marital status.
  4. Post any statement or imagery relating to a preference for or against a user based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or marital status.

Boat owners and tour operators who show a pattern of declining guests or canceling bookings from guests of one of these protected classes may be suspended from Celebrity Chattered Boats, even if the reasons are seemingly legitimate.

If a listing on Celebrity Chattered Boats contains language or imagery contrary to our nondiscrimination policy, the boat owner or operator will be asked to remove this material and review the non-discrimination policy.

Boat owners and tour operators are also not allowed to use language or imagery in communication with Celebrity Chattered Boats customer support or on the platform that indicates unlawful bias, discrimination, intolerance, or harassment.

We maintain the right to suspend or remove the owner from our platform.

 

Our goal is to provide our community with as much guidance as possible going forward, while also following the advice of the advisories from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). We are doing our very best to stay on top of their safety measures and travel requirements, both domestically and internationally.

We ask that you do the same, and always follow the guidance of your federal, state, and local public health officials to stay safe and healthy.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of coronavirus, known as COVID-19, to be a global pandemic. In response, we took immediate action to help protect our community and provide peace of mind to both our owners and our renters. We did this by working with them to reschedule reservations, and many provided refunds when possible.

COVID-19 continues to require everyone’s attention, and we recognize the impact this has had on everyone. We remain committed to great customer service and providing world-class customer experiences overall.

We have asked all boat owners and operators to consider COVID-19 within their respective cancellation policies. If you need to cancel your reservation, you will have to adhere to the cancellation policy of the boat owner or captain.

Before booking your reservation we also suggest that you ask the owner what their COVID-19 cancellation policy is, and understand how restrictions could affect your travel plans.

Please note that Celebrity Chattered Boats’s service fees are always non-refundable.

Be genuine

We are all here to support and develop the global boat rental community. We suspend or remove users whose behavior is counter-productive to this goal.

Communicate efficiently

A fast response is a good response. Speed of response and successful transactions go hand in hand. Respond to all messages, inquiries and offers as quickly as possible. Clear and timely communication helps everyone plan better.

Pay through the platform

We recommend that you do not ask or agree to pay or be paid for anything outside our platform. If you do pay outside Celebrity Chattered Boats we cannot protect your payments or assist with refunds and claims. Some rentals require temporary security deposits to be held for the duration of the rental. While it usually works out ok, if you agree to do so off platform you assume the risk. You can always direct the other party to accept payment only through Celebrity Chattered Boats.

Safe boating

All boat operators are responsible for knowing and obeying the rules and regulations that apply in the local areas and waterways they use. Boat operators are responsible for the safety and compliance of their passengers, the vessel, themselves, and fellow boaters. Never compromise on safety or compliance when choosing a boat operator. 

Our promise

We reserve the right to remove comments that breach these guidelines and suspend or ban users who breach them repeatedly or intentionally. We take a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination.

Managing Your Booking ⛵

Celebrity Chattered Boats has built-in instant messaging on both desktop and mobile that allows you to easily communicate with boat owners once you have submitted an inquiry. You can message for more details about the trip, ask about sightseeing options, clarify pricing, and more!

Contact details are provided for each party after a booking is confirmed via payment.

Please remember that our messaging system automatically filters out contact information, including email and phone numbers, to help keep you safe. Communicating or attempting to pay outside of Celebrity Chattered Boats can put you at risk for fraud and is against our terms of use.

 

We know that sharing a phone number seems like the quickest way to contact the boat owner, however this can often put you at risk of fraud, no-shows, failure to refund or pay, additional fees, and is against our Terms of Use. To help prevent this, our messaging system automatically filters out contact information, including email and phone numbers, to help keep you safe.

Here are some of the ways we help protect you on Celebrity Chattered Boats:

  • We vet all of our owners, so you can book with confidence
  • We send notifications for each step or important action by any party
  • We check in with you to ensure your trip went as expected
  • We offer secure refunds via credit card if a refund is necessary

You will never need to pay cash or a partial deposit to ‘hold’ a reservation.

After the boat owner sends you an offer, you can accept and confirm, and will then be charged the full amount of the booking. This confirms that your trip has been booked and paid for, and both parties will receive a confirmation email.

When you accept an offer from an owner your credit card will be charged in full for the total amount of the booking. Your booking will be considered confirmed and both parties will receive a confirmation email.

Once a booking is confirmed, you may contact owners directly via phone or email to work out any remaining logistics or firm up any details. You can still use the Celebrity Chattered Boats messaging system as well.

It is important to note that you will only be charged the amount of the booking. You will NOT be charged the security allowance upfront. The security allowance you see in an owner’s offer or booking confirmation will only be charged after the trip if an owner files a valid claim.

It also is important to carefully read the offer and messages the owner sends you. Some owners will indicate there may be additional payments needed to be paid upon arrival that are not included in the booking price. These payments may include captain and crew fees, fuel, cleaning fees, and gratuity.

 

If you would like to make any changes to a pending inquiry that you sent (any inquiry that hasn’t been booked), you should message the owner to let them know of the changes. The owner can then create a new offer for you with the updated details. 

If the owner does not take action on your request by creating a new offer, feel free to contact us at mail@celebritychateredboats.com. We’d be happy to reach out to the owner on your behalf and see if they can accommodate your requested changes.

 

If you would like to make minor changes to a confirmed booking (date, time, number of guests, etc), we recommend reaching out to the boat owner first to make sure they agree with any changes.

If the owner agrees, please email us at mail@celebritychateredboats.com to notify us of the differences. We will immediately update the booking changes on our end, and refund or charge you any difference in pricing if necessary.

 

Sometimes after a further review of your account, we require a brief identity check to be completed. You will receive a secure email link from our verification partners Evident or Persona, where you can follow the steps to submit additional information.

Celebrity Chattered Boats requests ID for the same reasons you are asked to show an ID when boarding an airplane or booking a hotel room. We want to ensure we are getting the right people on the water, while also ensuring the safety and security of the community.

Please note that if we do not receive a valid ID, Celebrity Chattered Boats may cancel a booking in certain cases. 

We understand sending an ID online can seem risky. The information you provide is secure and won’t ever be shared with other Celebrity Chattered Boats users. Your data privacy is of the utmost importance to us.

 

Paying For Your Booking 💳

To pay for and confirm a booking, Celebrity Chatered Boats only accepts credit card payments. Celebrity Chatered Boats currently accepts the following credit cards:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • Visa, Mastercard, & Discover Debit Cards
  • American Express
  • Discover
  • Union Pay
  • JCB
  • Diners Club
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay

Please note we do not accept prepaid credit cards.

Celebrity Chatered Boats cannot split the cost of a reservation with multiple payment methods at this time. However, you can easily save multiple payment methods in your account, which is great if you would like to use a business credit card for corporate bookings and a personal credit card for private excursions.

Booking a trip with a group of friends? You may want to consider using a safe, secure money transfer app like Venmo to split the cost with your friends or family members.

 

The booking transaction must be kept on the Celebrity Chatered Boats platform. When customers and owners go off our platform for payment, Celebrity Chatered Boats is unable to provide identity verification and additional security measures, refunds, fraud prevention, and customer service assistance. Customers assume all risk by bypassing Celebrity Chatered Boats’s secure payment system.

When customers use our platform they are covered by our Terms of Use which include the following benefits:

  • Easy refunds via credit card
  • Ease of mind. We don’t pay owners until your trip has been successfully completed.
  • Access to our customer support that is available 7 days a week
  • Email confirmation of your booking with all the important trip details 

There are also many cool features our customers have access to when they book through Celebrity Chatered Boats including the ability to receive and leave reviews, and automatic trip sharing through social media.

By using the Celebrity Chatered Boats platform, customers benefit from these added protections. However, if a customer pays an owner directly for any part of the booking, Celebrity Chatered Boats has no recourse to help with a potential refund.

Celebrity Chatered Boats supports payments for over 30 different world currencies for your convenience. The currency you pay with is generally determined by your payment method and sometimes your country or region. Please check first with your credit card company, as they may charge additional fees if you are paying in a different currency than your country’s primary currency.

Tipping should be handled by paying the captain or owner in cash and in person. Celebrity Chatered Boats currently does not have a way to add on a tip post booking.

As with most service-related industries, tipping is up to your discretion. It should be noted that for boat charters, tipping 10%-20% is customary.

While the boat captain is responsible for offering a safe and enjoyable ride, they are also providing an experience and a service to you. It’s up to you as the customer to decide the amount you want to tip. In some cases owners may have a preferred tipping amount in their listing description.

If your card is declined or you can not complete payment through our platform, you may want to check the following:

  1. Are your credit card number and billing address correctly entered?
  2. Is the name on your card entered as it appears on your billing statements?
  3. Are there sufficient funds or credit available on your card?
  4. Is your credit card expired?

If you’ve verified these things and the card is still being declined, our next recommendation is that you call your credit card company or financial institution. Inform them of the amount of the transaction and that you are trying to book a reservation through Celebrity Chatered Boats.

Most of the time, your bank or credit card company will be blocking the transaction for your own security. Once they confirm you’re good to go, you should be able to complete your booking.

Preparing For Your Trip 🏖️

Whether you’re taking a boat out on your own or renting a captained charter with a group of friends, there are some basic boating safety guidelines to remember.

  • If you’re on a captained charter, always heed your captain. Listen to their instructions and warnings and follow their directions.
  • Wear a lifejacket. Even if you’re a strong swimmer, the water conditions can change unexpectedly, or if you are hurt when you fall overboard, swimming might not be an option. Wearing a lifejacket can prevent accidents when out on the water. 
  • Always pay attention to the weatherand local warnings on water conditions. When in doubt – don’t go out. It’s best to reschedule a boat day rather than risk it and try to go out when the water is choppy or dangerous. 
  • Slow down and never run on a watercraft, since wind or waves can change quickly and cause you to fall overboard or lose your balance and suffer serious injury. 
  • Be careful and mindful of hatches and companionways. Watch your step when moving about the vessel. 
  • Be cautious about swimming, floating, or paddling near or around other watercraft. Make sure they are aware that people are in the water and keep your distance from other watercraft. 
  • Use the buddy system and count off passengers frequently to ensure everyone is accounted for on the boat. 

 

Write your list and check it twice! It’s easy to forget everything you need when you’re getting ready for an excursion on the water. If you’re wondering what to pack for a boating trip or a day on the water, here are our recommendations:

  • Layers, preferably ones that are UPF-rated
  • A complete change of clothes – just in case you get wet or the weather gets bad. 
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen – don’t forget to reapply every two hours, or more frequently if you get in the water
  • Plenty of Water. Staying hydrated is very important. 
  • Snacks
  • A book or magazine – disconnect from your smartphone and relax. 

If you’d like to bring something that is not on this list such as drinks, equipment, or decorations, then we recommend you contact the owner in advance to verify that these can be brought onboard. For more ideas on what to bring, check out the Celebrity Chattered Boats Journal.

Is it your first time on a captained charter? No need to worry! The captain and crew are there to ensure you have a fun and safe experience.

The captain generally should go over the following with all guests onboard:

  • How to use life jackets and personal flotation devices (PFDs)
  • Explainwho is required to wear life jackets and/or PFDs based on local, state, and federal laws
  • How to help someone who has gone overboard
  • Give instructions on safe swimming around boats
  • Show you where fire extinguishers and emergency equipment is located
  • Identify and explain the uses of horns, flares, VHF radios, and bilge pumps
  • Provide a basic plan in case of an emergency on board. 

Don’t hesitate to ask questions! Boat captains are there to help you and they want to provide a memorable experience on the water. They’re also a great resource if you’re interested in learning more about booking charters in the future.

If you’ve booked a bareboat (non-captained) rental, here are some tips and recommendations for making your upcoming rental safe and fun.

Pack your certifications and licenses:

Depending on the watercraft and where you’re boating, you may need a skipper’s license and a license to use the VHF radio. Some locations require you to complete a boating education course. Make sure that you bring your original paperwork and permits with you onboard, just in case.

Ask the owner ahead of time for a pre-rental and post-rental walkthrough:

Message the boat owner in advance of your trip to make sure you have time prior to the rental start time to review and inspect the equipment for prior damage, and ask questions. Something that you both sign off on is helpful. Think of it like renting an apartment! A walkthrough allows you to make sure you’re both on the same page about the condition of the watercraft before you take it out.

Here is a sample template for a pre & post-rental watercraft inspection. Note – this is just a guideline and should not be used in place of an official legal document. 

Ask for local recommendations:

The person meeting you to hand off the keys and instructions is likely going to be the boat owner, but occasionally it’s a family member, a friend of the family, the dockmaster, or another trusted individual. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for recommendations on where to go or what to see. They might have some great insider tips on where to go and things to look out for while on your boat day. 

Inquire about boat rental insurance:

Celebrity Chattered Boats does not offer rental insurance for renters, but you can ask the boat owner if they are covered for bareboat rentals with insurance. You can also look into finding an insurance agency that can offer temporary boat rental insurance.  

 

Changes Or Cancellations 🗓️

If you need to cancel a booking for any reason, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your inboxand find the booking
  2. Click on the options button to bring up the menu
  3. Click the “Cancel Reservation” button
  4. Add the reason for your cancellation in the text box
  5. Select the “Cancel Reservation” confirmation button one more time

A cancellation notification will be sent to the owner and your booking will be canceled

Important:

Please note that Celebrity Chatered Boats follows the cancellation policy set by the owner in their listing. If an owner has a cancellation policy that does not allow for refunds, or only offers partial refunds, then Celebrity Chatered Boats must honor the owner’s policy.

If the owner has not specified a cancellation policy, Celebrity Chatered Boats standard cancellation policy designates that a full refund will be issued if you’ve canceled your trip five (5) or more days prior to the start date. Celebrity Chatered Boats service fee is always non-refundable.

If you plan on cancelling a confirmed booking, we highly recommend you check the owners cancellation policy so you know what to expect in advance. Celebrity Chatered Boatscan only offer refunds at the owner’s discretion, except in very rare circumstances.

COVID-19:

We recognize the impact this has on everyone, not just our travel plans but health and safety overall. Because of the rapidly-evolving nature of COVID-19, we are currently unable to adapt our policies around the pandemic. We are however committed to great customer service and providing world-class customer experiences overall. We have asked all our owners to consider COVID-19 within their respective cancellation policies.

We understand that weather can be fickle. If you’re in a tropical climate, you can experience rain and sunshine on and off throughout a single day.

Cancelations due to weather happen. It’s part of the industry and the risk in booking an experience that involves the outdoors. As with other cancellations, weather cancellations on Celebrity Chatered Boats are subject to the individual owner’s cancellation policy.

Most owners will offer a full refund or a rescheduled date. However, owners are entitled to request payment if it’s determined that the conditions are still safe to go out on the water. 

Celebrity Chatered Boats understands some trips are booked with the expectation of sunshine. But if the sea conditions are safe where a charter or rental can still occur, canceling due to unsatisfactory weather does not necessarily mean a refund is warranted. 

Most owners will be very flexible and understanding regarding weather cancellations. However, unless the Coast Guard issues an advisory or prohibits watercraft from going out on the water, any refund request for a weather cancellation will still need to be approved or authorized by the owner first before Celebrity Chatered Boats will issue a refund.

If an owner needs to cancel your booking, they should do it through Celebrity Chatered Boats so that our support team is aware of the cancellation. You may also contact us via phone or email and let us know the boat owner has decided to cancel. 

When a booking is canceled by the owner, you will be issued a full refund including our service fees and receive an email confirming the cancellation.

We never like to hear about an owner canceling on a customer, but sometimes things come up where this happens. Celebrity Chatered Boats is not responsible for cancellations by owners, but we are more than happy to quickly process a refund as needed.

Please note that if the cancellation is made in person, and we are not contacted (either by email, phone, or by canceling the booking through the platform) then Celebrity Chatered Boats will not be aware of the cancellation and can not issue a refund.

 

Each listing has its own cancellation policy set by the owner. Celebrity Chatered Boats stands by each owner’s individual policy and refunds will be issued based on the terms of the cancellation policy.

When the customer cancels:

If a customer cancels outside of the owner’s cancellation policy, a full refund will be processed minus Celebrity Chatered Boats’s service fee which is always non-refundable. 

If a customer cancels within an owner’s cancellation policy, a refund will only be processed if the owner authorizes one. The owner has the right to claim a partial or full payment if canceled within the terms of their cancellation policy.

Please note that even though Celebrity Chatered Boats helps with processing payment, the owner has the final say over whether or not a refund should be issued. If an owner does not agree or does not wish to refund, they are entitled to a full or partial payout per their cancellation policy.

When the owner cancels:

When an owner cancels a booking, a full refund including Celebrity Chatered Boats’s service fee will be issued to the customer. A cancellation fee may be applied to the owner’s account if a valid reason for the cancellation is not provided. This fee will be deducted from an owner’s future payout.

Managing Trip Incidents 🛟

All watercraft operators on Celebrity Chatered Boats are responsible for knowing and obeying the rules and regulations that apply in the local areas and waterways they use. Boat operators are also responsible for the safety and compliance of their passengers, the vessel, themselves, and fellow boaters. They should always provide a safe, inclusive, and fun experience for everyone onboard.

The security allowance is a protection in place for boat owners in case the renter or guests onboard do something that incurs an additional expense. This is very uncommon, but could include things such as minor damage or cleaning fees.

Will my credit card be charged:

If the boat owner submits a claim within 48hrs of the trip completion date, we are authorized to charge your credit card up to the amount of the listed security allowance. We will send you an email notification to let you know that a claim has been opened.

How is the claim resolved:

Any disputes regarding the claim should first be handled between you and the owner. If the dispute is not resolved then Celebrity Chatered Boats will assess evidence submitted by both parties, and will issue a payout to the owner or refund your credit card depending on the conclusion.

What is the timeframe:

Typically the process takes one week but can be faster or slower depending on the circumstances. Any decision made by Celebrity Chatered Boats in regards to the claim is final. Any further action would have to be handled directly by the customer and the owner.
